Instead, you will see finished pieces lit and hung, fabric swatches you can hold up to a window, and frame samples in the powder-coat colours KAHA keeps on hand. A member of the team walks you through fabric, shape and size, and most visits end with either a piece you take away or a written quote for something built to your dimensions.
There is no obligation to buy on the spot — plenty of visitors come once to see the material, then order later by WhatsApp once they have measured a fitting at home or checked a colour against a room.
A typical visit runs somewhere between fifteen minutes and an hour, depending on whether you already know roughly what you want or are still deciding between shapes. If you are choosing a colour to match an existing sofa, curtain or wall, bring a swatch or a photo — it makes the comparison against KAHA’s 28 frame colours and nine fabrics far quicker than trying to remember a shade from memory.
Sizing for Your Space
Choosing a size for a typical Ho Chi Minh City apartment.
This is a general rule of thumb, not a measurement of any specific building: most apartment living and dining rooms in the city have a finished ceiling that leaves comfortable headroom for a pendant hung with a drop of roughly 65–75 cm above a dining table, or slightly higher over a sofa or walkway where people pass underneath. A studio or a lower mezzanine level usually calls for a shallower drop and a smaller shade diameter so the piece doesn’t dominate the room.
Bringing a photo of the room, and roughly where the existing ceiling fitting sits relative to the table or seating below it, is the fastest way for the team to suggest a size in the sample library — it is easier to judge scale from a real photo than from a written measurement alone.
Light Temperature
Warm light suits fabric, and it suits this climate.
KAHA builds every shade to run on standard LED bulbs at around 2700K — a warm, slightly yellow-white light. That choice is deliberate: cool white bulbs in the 5000–6500K range wash out a fabric shade’s natural colour and warmth, and read closer to office lighting than the softer, evening glow most buyers actually want from a fabric lamp. Halogen bulbs are avoided altogether — the heat they generate close to fabric is a real risk over long use.
In a hot, humid climate, a warm-toned LED also runs cooler and uses less power than the fixtures it usually replaces, which matters if a lamp is left on for long stretches in the evening.
Renting, Not Owning

A large share of foreign residents in Ho Chi Minh City rent, and most landlords are unenthusiastic about tenants drilling new ceiling fixtures. Payment is arranged directly with the team once the specification and price are agreed — there is no obligation to pay anything before that point, and nothing is cut or sewn until you have confirmed what you want.
Two Different Kinds of Lamp Shop
Mass-market lighting store, or handmade sample library?
Ho Chi Minh City has both, and they solve different problems. Lighting supermarkets on the big electronics streets stock imported LED fixtures and chandeliers at speed and volume — useful when you need a fitting today and don’t mind what everyone else’s building has. KAHA is the other kind: a small studio that builds fabric shades to order, one fabric and one frame colour at a time, for buyers who want a piece that matches their space rather than the nearest thing in stock.
Neither approach is universally “better” — a lighting supermarket is the right call for a quick fixture replacement or a tight budget. The KAHA sample library is the right call when the shape, colour or size has to be exact, when a piece needs to coordinate across several rooms of a home or property, or when a buyer simply wants something built by hand rather than imported and boxed.

Across the 148 pieces in KAHA’s English-language catalogue, most sit under $100 — smaller table and pendant shades in everyday fabrics. Price climbs with size, with fabric choice (silk and pleated cloth generally cost more to work than linen or canvas), and with construction complexity, such as a multi-tier cluster piece rather than a single shade.
Quoted prices are ex-works Ho Chi Minh City and exclude freight, insurance and duties; volume pricing is confirmed once a quantity is set. A custom piece is priced individually once fabric and dimensions are agreed — it will not necessarily fall inside these catalogue bands.

The Socket, the Bulb, the Switch
What’s underneath the fabric.
KAHA shades are shade-only — there is no built-in wiring inside the fabric itself. Each one mounts onto a standard E27 or E14 lamp holder through a spider-fitter ring or a gimbal ring, which normally takes a few seconds to attach or press into place. This matches Vietnam’s standard 220V mains supply and the same E27/E14 bulb fitting used across most local and imported fixtures, so a KAHA shade generally drops straight onto an existing lamp base or pendant fitting.
If you are unsure what fitting your existing lamp uses, a photo of the holder is usually enough for the team to confirm compatibility before you order.
The Warranty, Explained
Twelve months, and exactly what it covers.
Every KAHA piece carries a 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults: a size that doesn’t match the confirmed specification, a colour that deviates from the approved sample, or a stitching or material defect. Any of these is resolved with a free replacement or a refund. Damage that happens in transit is separately covered by shipping insurance — report it with photos within 24 hours of receiving the parcel, and a replacement ships at no extra cost.
What isn’t covered: a change of mind after production has already been confirmed, design changes requested after a sample has been approved, or damage caused by incorrect installation or use once the lamp is in your home. This is also why the sample-approval step in a custom order matters — it is the point where you can still change fabric, colour or size before anything is built at scale.
The Material Story
Where the fabric and the frame come from.
The nine fabrics KAHA works with are sourced from craft villages including Nam Định, Hội An and Vạn Phúc — places with a long textile-weaving and silk-weaving heritage — then cut, wrapped and finished by hand in Ho Chi Minh City. Frames are welded and powder-coated locally to the same standard, whether the piece ends up in the sample library, a hotel corridor, or a container bound for another city.

If you are building a custom piece rather than buying from the shelf, a handful of questions upfront save back-and-forth later: what is the minimum order for this fabric and size, how long will production realistically take once a sample is approved, can this specific colour be matched to a Pantone reference or an existing swatch, and what happens if the finished piece doesn’t match the approved sample.
Every one of those answers is covered above — sample first, 7–15 day production once confirmed, Pantone matching available on request, and manufacturing faults covered under the 12-month warranty — but it is worth hearing the team confirm them for your specific piece before production starts.
Delivery

Most orders placed in Ho Chi Minh City are delivered within the city itself. If you live or are moving elsewhere in Vietnam, delivery is arranged nationwide — the same fabric shade you handled in the sample library ships to wherever you are, packed the same way it would leave the studio for a local order.
Every piece carries KAHA’s 12-month warranty regardless of where it ships, so a lamp bought in the shop and one ordered remotely are covered identically.
